Meynen Joke: Analysis Siegfried Sassoon: Remainders
In " Survivors” Sassoon confronts the readers while using harsh fact of war. He gives an image of life in war with descriptions with the traumatizing effects that warfare has on soldiers. This underlying criticism is also present in the following series: " obviously they're wishing to go out again”. The people thought that the soldiers were dying to go back to the war. Again he demolishes this believed by detailing that the males were virtually lame " learning to walk”. Another sarcastic comment is found on line five " the can soon neglect their haunted nights”. Once again this statement is a conundrum to the next series: " dreams that get with killing and subjection to the ghosts of their friends”. After the battle soldiers had been often haunted by all the things that they saw or performed when becoming in the conflict.
