Different people in the Holy bible, whether superb or prevalent, imparted important roles inside the history of our salvation. They can be our role model in living the faith through this present universe. Let me focus on Jonah, the prophet, whom played an excellent role in the Old Testament people especially to the people of Nineveh.

Jonah in Hebrew can be " Yona” or " Yunus” in Islam which means Dove is placed in the traditions of the prophets called simply by God and sent to declare His Term. He was the son of Mitta according to a Custom quoted in Sahih Bukhari but the Torah states that his father's name was Amittai, " …the prophet Jonah, the son of Amittai from Gath-hepher” (2 Kings 13: 25). Stressed of the limit of The lord's mercy, this individual epitomizes post-exilic Israel, narrow-minded towards her neighbors. His mission can be reminiscent with Jeremiah's objective to the nations " Before I created you inside the womb That i knew you; just before you had been born My spouse and i set you apart, and appointed you a prophet to the nations” (Jer. 1: 5). Jonah is unique among the list of 12 Small Prophets in that his publication contains very little prophecy; its single oracular statement, " Yet 40 days, and Nineveh will probably be overthrown! ” Instead of prophecies, the book tells how Jonah was swallowed simply by " an excellent fish” and survived " in the tummy of the fish three days and three nights. ” His story begins with all the Lord's order: " Happen, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness has come before me”. But Jonah decided to go against God the reason why he is also referred to as a licentious prophet. Having been best known as the prophet who had been swallowed by a large seafood. Realizing that Our god sent a storm because of his disobedience, Jonah begged to become thrown crazy. His would like was unwillingly granted and, as soon as he was cast in to the sea, the storm abated. Swallowed by the fish, Jonah cried out to God to get deliverance. Heeding the prophet's anguish prayer, " the Lord spoke towards the fish, and it vomited out Jonah into the dry land”.

It is significant to note the division of the book corresponding to the two missions (First: Jon. 1: 1-2: 10 and Second: Jon. 3: 1-4: 11) of the telepathist. In the first part, the recalcitrant Forecaster is the recipient of God's mercy; in the second part, he begrudges that mercy to others. Let me give attention to some situations in the tale that are tightly related to the present; Jonah' Vocation (Jon. 1: 1-2), The Surprise (Jon. one particular: 4-16), The best Fish (Jon. 2: 1-11), and Jonah under the Empote Plant (Jon. 4: 5-11).

Looking at their Authorship and Date, bloggers who have interpreted the publication as an historical narrative identify Jonah with the 8th-Century. Prophet mentioned in 2Kings 14: 25 and consider him as the author of the book. Yet , majority of the scholars today reject Jonah's authorship and date the publication between 500 and two hundred BC. All their arguments can be summarized as follows. The satirical tone where the author writes about the Prophet inside the third person suggests that he was not writing about himself. The possible lack of significant details, such as the identity of the area where the fish left Jonah and the term of the king of Nineveh, suggests that mcdougal was not writing of contemporary situations. The language in the book is not that of the eighth Century. Several words employed are not discovered elsewhere inside the Old Legs but only in later on Hebrew books. The use of a number of Aramaisms implies a date after than the 9th Century. The mentality in the author is somewhat more like the mentality of the central 5th hundred years. For these reasons, this guide of not known authorship is dated between 400-200. In the Literary Kind, if the publication is researched in relation to its life setting in post-exilic Israel, if it is compared to the tales of the prophets, the...
