Obesity occurs when an individual has more body fat then what is deemed healthy for height. People who have excess body fat may develop health concerns then non-obese people. Regretfully, obesity is becoming an epidemic in our region, spreading throughout both the adult and young communities. " Recent research have shown that 17 percent of the place's 6- to 19-year-olds are obese, and this more than a third are obese. Those costs have about doubled in the past three decades, ” (Hotakainen 2012). Unquestionably, there have been many within our culture over the last 30 years. Technology and modern day conveniences possess transformed the way in which people function and play in the 21st century. At present, many young adults find themselves trying to keep up with agendas that, in most cases, leave very little time for healthy and balanced choices. Thus, many children find it difficult to preserve their best body weight. Irrefutably, there are many different life-style factors accountable for the overweight issue affecting our American youth today. Presently, how Americans make food is extremely different when compared to methods from generations back. There was a time once most people manufactured their dishes from scratch. Families sat straight down together around the table and ate selfmade low fully processed foods. However , the society has evolved greatly over the years. Very few homeowners have time to prepare relatives style dinners and instead rely heavily about sources that provide fast simple and easy meals. Regrettably, parents are not always home and thus cannot supervise what their children are consuming at a treat. Pantries are filled with unhealthy food while family freezers are stocked with microwavable, processed foods. Inevitably, children are fending on their own and end up consuming foods that will be, more than likely, high in body fat, sugar, and calories.
