Case Study Report, Palm Inc.

BACKGROUND:

Rob Hawkins founded Palm Processing Inc, a hand-held laptop business, in 1992 which has since changed names (Yoffie & Kwak, 2001). It happened in 1999 it changed to Palm Incorporation (Yahoo Financial, 2006). The truth study targeted on Jeff Hawkins, the founder of Palm, and Donna Dubinsky the former CEO of the company. These two remaining Palm in 1998 and founded a company named Handspring, the only company as of 2001 for taking a meaningful share of the market faraway from Palm (Yoffie, 2001). The CEO in Palm, Incorporation is Edward T. Colligan. For the period ending May well 31, 06\, Palm acquired sales of $1. 578 billion and a net income in excess of $336 million (Yahoo Finance, 2006). This is a significant increase above the previous couple of years. SWOT RESEARCH:

Strengths: The most important strength the case study dedicated to was strategy. Palm applied a judo strategy starting with the " puppy-dog ploy" (Yoffie, 2001, p. 56). This strategy allowed Palm in which to stay business and stay undiscovered as a danger to their competition, especially Microsoft, for quite some time. Yoffie (2001) stated that power of Hand was their very own " tightly integrated software program and equipment design" (p. 59).
