The Impact of an Idealized State of Discipline upon Human Behavior

An idealized state of discipline gained by the use of Bentham's ‘Panopticon' energizes the reader to reflect on the real nature of social establishments present today. It provides a book outlook, through which one can observe similar reasons, processes and outcomes in the functioning of establishments that are otherwise perceived as unrelated. Furthermore to Foucault's description of the Panopticon's framework and its essential role, it tends towards politics utopia arises through the adjustments that occur in human behavior. The mental effects that take place because of power that can be ‘visible and unverifiable' result in the orderliness desired (Foucault 227). Foucault identifies the Panopticon as being capable to, ‘…induce in the inmate a state of conscious and everlasting visibility that assures the automatic working of power' (Foucault 226). My investigation of individual behavior can lead to an argument involving the disciplinary mechanism pertaining to progress of society. The analysis of leaders compared to efficient employees will result in a conclusion around the relative importance of each. That stuff seriously the motive of establishments is to mentally mold a person so that they may live by the ethical and disciplinary standards collection by culture. Whether this can be a correctional facility or educational company sponsored by the state, it will eventually attempt to adjust behavior in a fashion that is perceived as beneficial. This is often related to the person that physical exercises power in the Panopticon, because ‘…he can judge them continuously, change their behavior, impose on them the methods this individual thinks best' (Foucault 231). One's actions are often influenced by educational experiences, and frequently controls his or her sense of moral responsibility. As a result, the functions of an specific can be traced to the disciplinary mechanism. Just how people respond to a situation is known as a function from the ideals they are exposed to, whether in an establishment of higher learning, through family values, or religion. Expectations, the rendering of proper rights and a fallen image for people that choose to go against the best practice rules prevent persons from performing in a manner that is described as unacceptable. Prisons seek to correct the behavior of their inmates through constant guidance and instillation of dread, thus bringing about progress of society through psychological molding. Similarly, you are constantly guided through the means of schooling to master cultural techniques and regulations that would be beneficial on a daily basis. During career training, society molds exceptional people by incentives to discover and inculcates the fear of inability in the people. Due to the respect gained simply by invention or service to humankind, the competitive nature of individuals to achieve, or perhaps merely a duty to feed one's family members, society has created a disciplinary movement favorable to progress. This could clearly become related to Foucault's argument, while the economic system and social attitudes maintain power above members of the entire man community. In person, I feel that this technique subtly plays a part in my decision in going after a premedical degree. However, a majority of the Indian community settled in the usa considers any degree aside from a doctor of medicine to be substandard. If an Indian graduating from college decides to pursue a work other than medication, it is assumed that she or he is incompetent, lacks concentrate, and will possess a economically less protected future. This really is partially the main reason that parents pressure their children into attending medical school. Therefore , the desire to compete with others for admission, the finest residencies, and the maximum six-figure salaries is almost second nature. Thus, the attitude on this community offers shaped individuals into pursuing this job, regardless of all their interest. The mechanism referred to above causes discipline during working hours...
